Default .303 British Hunting Ammo

I'm probably going to use my Lee Enfield this year for deer season, instead of my Eddystone. I have surplus ammo, but I don't want to use them due to hang fires. Any ammo suggestions?

Federal make 180gn ammo. Do you reload at all as I reload my Mk1 No.3 with 180gn Sierra ProHunters and get about 2" groups at 100yds off the bench with open sights if I do my bit, regards

I don't reload now, but planning on getting into it. Should I go for soft point or some other round? Thanks

Soft point will do the job no worries at all providing you do your part placement wise.
Here in Australia the .303 has also been used to take deer as well so you won't have any problems there either.
Reloading wise I've also used 150gn projectiles as well on pigs and goats with good results.

I generally put about 45.5 gns of AR2209(Australian powder) in mine which is roughly equal to H4350 or IMR4350 or W760,regards

Hornady was the most accurate in my No4. S&B and Prvi were a close second.

Don't use FMJ please.

It will work, but is the bottom of the barrel.

It will drop them in their tracks. I always preferred Winchester in my .303 but more often than not all I could find was 180gr Core-Loct's. It wasn't a problem though because the Remington always did the job. Aim for the lung and not the shoulder.

I have taken a couple deer with my No. 4 Lee Enfield shooting .303 CoreLokt and it performed well. I have also taken deer with 30-06 CoreLokt. It is accurate, puts the deer down and it is inexpensive. What more could you want?

Hopefully, on Nov 26 I'll take another deer with .308 CoreLokt.
