Let me offer you this: When I have a question about which caliber or bullet will do what, I go into my reloading room and pull down one of the manuals off the shelf. Reloading manuals are one of the greatest sources of ballastic information and comparison that any shooting sports enthusiast could ever hope to find.

Sounds like you need to find someone who actually owns these rifles and get him (them) to let you take a few shots. Quite frankly, if I lived in Africa, I'd be looking to carry as much rifle as I could find. Don't forget Jeff Cooper's classic remark about African hunting rifles: 'The right caliber always starts with a four!'

(So matt g. is right!)

There is nothing in this world that a .45-70 can't drop.

Anybody NITRO EXPRESS ???

Don't want to be under caliber myself, but the way it go i'm go to be over caliber very soon.

But I'll be go ahead with my initial choice "338 WIN MAG", and probably going to choose between the 'TIKKI - LITE' or the 'HOWA - M-1500'.

I know you can have 'Single set trigger' as an option with Tikki, but what about Howa???
Any factory 'Single set trigger' option???
If not, What would be a good after market 'Single set trigger'???

PLEASE . . .

I have a m1a1 sport ww11 30.06 , and a Rem 700 300 mag. I reload for both.
I hunt in the desert long range. The 300 out shoots the .06 in most areas. The recoil is not bad up to max loads.
I will get to your part of the world one day.
