MY price range is 400 to 500 dollars I have found a good condition savage 110e for $425 local in 30/06 this will be my first hunting rifle slash shtf rifle. But was wondering what you guys thought of the 30/30 the only ones I can find are the marlin 336w but would prefer a bolt action. But I am not very knowledgable of lever action and realiability. Considering the 30/30 for cheaper ammo.

Not much big game here didn't know if 30/06 would be necessary
I appreciate it will be new to hunting so no 200 yard shots for me seems like a 30/30 will keep me in check and stop me from trying to shoot further than my skill level and not wound will be waiting for the next gun show. Still might pick up the 30/06 if someone thinks it's a decent deal
A 30/30 lever action for hunting would be just about perfect for most of Florida. Lever actions are very reliable and handle well in thick cover. At some point you might want a 30/06 for extra range but the lever would still be perfect for 90% of your needs.
I got a savage 110 and I love I live in Missouri and where I hunt it gets pretty thick but u cant really go wrong with eather one in thick brush in my opinion
Ahh that's too funny. You remind me of my buddy Two Wolfs. He will ask me about a pair of shotguns, have me come to the store with him to check them out and end up walking out of the store with a sharps or something. Lol

Well do you thank you will ever be reaching out to 200 or more after you increase you skill. My first gun was a marlin 30-30 not sure what model. A year or so later I wonted to reach out to distances my 30-30 would not allow. I told my dad I wonted a bigger gun for Christmas. He took me to a shop and said pick one out. After an hour of looking and him helping I walked out with my Winchester 30-06 model 70. I wish I picked it for my first gun. But I was young and wonted to be a cowboy. I still hunt with that 30-06 to this day and always will.
