Does anyone know of a stainless steel muzzle brake
I have a M77 Mark II that after 3 shots I have the pattern of the butt stock imprinted in my shoulder for a week

I just though of a type of muzzle brake but can't find them a multi port brake

A .308 break should do pretty well at taming .30-06 recoil. You could also look into a good recoil pad.

I don't know what kind of pad to get I took the one off that's on it now and it has a lip on it

How closely does the rifle's LOP match your own?

A 30.06 is a very respectable rifle round, one of

my favorites, and the max I'm willing to shoot,

but there must be something wrong here which we

are not seeing, because a 30.06 simply doesn't

kick that much.

A muzzle break would no doubt help, but you'd still

have the problem which initially drove you to get it.

You say it has a fiberglass stock.
Is this one of the lightweight Ruger mountain rifle types or featherweights, or weather warriors or what ever they are calling them?

That light weight makes them a pleasure to carry in teh woods, but they can indeed be a bit more punishing to shoot. But as Therewolf said, the .30-06 doesn't havve a reputation as being a horrible round in the recoil department.
