Default .260 remington build

Hello all, I'm considering a .260 Remington build on a savage stainless target action I have. I've read a lot about 6.5 bores and was wondering if anyone had any input. My plan is a Brux or Shilen select match 1-8 twist 28"heavy stainless bull barrel, devcon bedded action, leave the accutrigger for now. Any thought on loads or setups is welcomed. Thanks

i am not truly as familiar with the 260 Remington as i'd like to be, but it sounds like a good start to a nice rifle.

mainly jumping in here to learn more and to subscribe to the thread. sounds very interesting.

I've got an AR-10 in 260 Remington, and recently built a 6.5 Creedmoor bolt action. I prefer the 6.5 Creedmoor over the 260 Rem.

The ballistics are almost identical, but the Creedmoor's case is shorter, and allows the bullets to be seated really long and still fit in a magazine.
Brass for either caliber is a toss up,I have always hated Remington brass,it doesn't last very many loads before the necks split. But I resize Winchester 243 brass for all of my 260 Remington brass.
6.5 Creedmoor brass from Hornady has had a few problems, and if you load hot loads, the primer pockets get big/loose pretty quick-2/3 firings. Some guy's have been resizing 250 Savage/22-250 brass for the Creedmoor, but I haven't tried these yet.
Lapua makes brass for both calibers, but it's kinda pricey!

The 260 Rem. is a great caliber, but the 6.5 Creedmoor give's you a few things that the 260 doesn't,with almost identical ballistics.

I'd thought about the 6.5 creedmore, I've got a few thousand 22-250 cases. It's going in a bolt action and I don't care about magazines. Target/prairie dog gun. I plan on seating vlds out .015 off the lands.

I'm shooting the 140gr VLD at .010 off the lands - 2.877" oal and still have a good .125-.150" left in my magwell.
My 6.5 is also a bolt action,built off a Savage Varmint action,and a 26" E.R. Shaw varmint contour barrel.
I got one hell of a deal on the Shaw barrel on a group buy,or else I'd buy a Hart or Kreiger barrel, but for $158,it was hard to pass up the Shaw.
It shoots pretty good too, smallest group so far with test loads is .122" center -center.
