25-06s are pretty common around here, I don't know about nation wide but around here they are easily in the top 10 of hunting rifles used, I know more people who hunt with 25-06s then 30-30s, 45-70s, 243s or even 308s, I don't know about sales numbers but I know a bunch of people who hunt with theirs. Some things are regional, plenty of people in the hill country of Texas using 280s but I have never seen one around here.

Racking my brain trying to think of all the hunters I know here and what caliber they primarily use, just to show how local numbers can vary drastically.
270 Win: At leased a dozen, by far the most popular around here.
30-06: 7 including my brother who uses mine, a solid second place.
7mm Rem Mag: 3
25-06: 3
300 Win Mag: 2
243: 2
30-30: Only 2 surprising considering all the thick brush around here.
308: Only 1 which is REALLY surprising.
7mm-08: 1
6.5x55: 1 Mine
45-70: 1
25 WSSM: 1 My gunsmith
I see more 270s and quarterbores here in Alabama, and alot more 308s, 243s, and various 7mms in Texas. Just a casual observation not any kind of intensive survey. I always assumed 25-06 were in the top 10 I see them quite a bit.
