Your missing them! Must calculate for windage and drop at 30 yards.

22lr vs 50BMG?

No contest the 50BMG is needed for squirrel hunting, the 22lr is just not a large enough caliber to cleanly take his head off in one Bang!!

I know it is underpowered but if you get a good heart shot a .22 could work.

I found youtube videos of guys deer and pronghorn hunting with the .50 bmg, so if you live in and/or hunt in a state where you can use whatever you want, I say go right ahead. Just be sure to use fmj because an expanding .50 round will f@$# up your deer.

With a 50 BMG, you shoot just OVER the squirrel. Shock wave of bullet passing over them slams them into the ground and causes instant death. No holes in fur, no damage to meat.
That might actually work.

You guys are killing me!! A .50BMG for a squirrel?!

Call me when you're ready to play with the big boys. I like to use nuclear warheads on spiders and palmetto bugs, aka "flying cockroaches"

I love living in West Virginia. Pretty much the only deer hunting gun law is no rimfire. If it doesn't fall in that category your pretty good. No gun law for turkey.

Dude, right!? Thank goodness they are the snackfood of the woods -- they also squeak as they run away and stop when they stop running -- "here I am Mr. Predator." I literally had one run onto and stand on my boot while I was standing still hunting once -- honest injun. Turns out he was smarter than me tho -- It was the only place in the woods I couldn't shoot him and I blinked first!

I'm thinking it depends on whether you want the squirrel to disappear or not.
