.22 short vs .300 Win Mag.

Which is better?

Depends on what you intend on using it for.....

.22 short. Because you can carry more ammunition.
.22 short. Because it is just as effective with shot placement.
.22 short. Because of availability.
.22 short. Because of recoil.
.22 short. Because it costs less.
.22 short. Because it is quiet.
.22 short. Because it is more versatile.

300 win mag because I'm a manly man and want as much recoil as can be even if its an overkill caliber

All you need is a .22 Short to help perpetuate what other idjuts parrot is, in turn, all you need to survive. You can always crawl into the woods and live off of whatever and defend yourself. The .22 Short isn't effective enough? Let me shoot you in the pinkie with one! Ah ha -- I WIN the argument with superior logic!!!

.300 Win Mag is my choice for small game- rabbits, squirrels, annoying geckos with a British accent. It does FAR less damage to the meat.

Of course, you do not shoot the critter. You shoot just above them.

Shockwave of the bullet passing over slams them into the ground, killing them instantly, no holes in the fur.

.......except for geckos, that do not HAVE fur.....

.300 Win mag can be loaded down, but the 22 short cannot be loaded up.
Somewhere I have some records of my attempt to create a 100gr plinker load.

I feel better with a larger cartridge. The paper targets shake with fear.

Is this some kind of trick question? Which is better pizza or a Maserati? Depends on if you are starving to death.........
22 Short vs 300 Win Mag depends of you intend to hunt anything over 20LBS

Both of these cartridges are great, and both fulfill their intended purposes perfectly. BUT.....if I ever got into a GUN BATTLE, I'd want to have my .22short with me.
