.22 short rifle
does anyone make a semiautomatic rifle that will shoot the .22 short round?

Hawg 07-05-2011 03:15 PM

I'm not sure if anybody makes one anymore. Some of the older ones came chambered for .22 short and a lot of them handled all three.

Where would one find 22short ammo?

I'm not sure I've seen it lately or is it I'm just not looking?

22 short rifle...........
If'n I didn't throw away my magazines I'll let you know the where abouts of said rifles. They were made special order by winchester...... My bolt action cooey will shoot shorts as long as you hand feed each one.....

Most 22's that shoot long rifle will shoot shorts, but you have to feed them by hand. You could get a ruger 10/22, then get a conversion kit that let's it feed shorts for around 400 bucks for the whole setup

Winchester, Savage, Marlin, Remington all used to make semi's that fed shorts, longs and long rifles.

Remington made a sweet auto called the model 241 in 22 short only. Buy one off or check local gunshops. Many early guns were made for all three 22's.

Remington made the 550 and 550-1. Those will eat shorts, longs, and long rifles mixed together. There WAS, IIRC, a 550-C that was .22 Short only. Sveral of my bolt action Mossbergs made in the 40s and 50s use a box magazine, and have a threaded pin in the mag. Leave in for shorts, out for LR. A Marlin 39 A lever action will also shot em all,
