I am currently looking for a new varmit rifle. I was looking for a 22-250 in Remington 700 VTR, Tikka T3, or the T/C Venture Predator. Which would be the best for the creeks and pastures of Southern Oklahoma?

riley any of listed are good choices, but i will give you one more to check out and do recommend. the Marlin XS7VH in 22-250. 26" heavy barrel, synthetic stock, adjustable Marlin Pro-Trigger. i have one similar in 308, paid $370+ tax for it. excellent rifle and very accurate. topped with a good scope should work fine for you.

the Marlin X7 series of rifles are fantastic, very accurate, very well made and decently priced. i own three of them, an XL7 in 25-06, XS7 in 7mm-08 and the XS7VH in 308. all of them shoot very well and accurate. i will be acquiring more in the future as well. the 22-250 XS7VH is on my short list!

I purchsed a Remington 700 chambered for 22-250 about 8 years ago. It has a laminated wood stock and heavy barrel. I needed to have the trigger adjusted as the facory trigger pull was about 8.5 pounds. Totally not good. Had it taken down to just under 2 pounds and the rifle is fantastic. I have a variable power Leupold scope up to 14X and you can shoot all the holes you want into a quarter size dot at 100 yards! I shoot Hornady 50 or 55 grain Varmint Express ammo and it is absolute death on coyotes way out to 3oo yards with no problems. Zero the gun to be 1/2 inch high at 100 yards and you only have a 5 inch drop at 300. If the target is out that far put the horizontal cross hair at the top of the back and squeeze softly. Or enjoy watching the yote come in closer. Use a pair of shooting sticks! The rifle is heavy and carrying it can be a chore if you are moving a lot.

I have even shot quite a few hogs with the gun. Just stick it in their ear and no tracking needed. They fall over sideways.
