Default 219 Savage Question

I have a Model 219 Savage in 30-30 with no serial number. Does anyone know when Savage started putting numbers on this model?

The Savage model 219 never HAD serial numbers. They were not required for rifles and shotguns until the 1968 Gun Control Act was in effect. The Model 219 was made from 1938-1965- and stopped production before it was required. Only military arms and higher quality rifles and shotguns had serial numbers back then.

FWIW, I was going thru my collection records today- 36 of the guns are listed as NSN- no serial number. Never had one, never needed one.
