Default 20" 7.62X39 AR-15,,, finally ready for night hog hunts

here it is with my light set up,,, if you own a TLR-1s you know that you can see clear out to 200 yards at night and good enough out to 300 with this light (even better with a scope)

Very nice I've been interested in getting an AR in 7.62x39 but other things have come first. I currently use an AK for hogs. I don't really hog hunt over 100 yards so its plenty accurate for that purpose. I too am interested in the groups this is capable of at 200 yards. Let us know and have fun. MMM... Bacon!

Winchester 123g fmj 1.25"
Tula 122g HP 2"

these were the worst 5 shot groups at 100 yards with each

the Winchester stays around 1/2" most of the time

when i get more shoot and see targets ill will post pix of the groups on fresh targets so no one can say i was cheating with the dots for reusing the targets

i measure center to center on the holes

175 yard zero with an epic group

scope center line to bore center line 3"
altitude 59'
temperature 72*F
cross wind 0 mph
humidity 28%
pressure 30.9 in Hg

Winchester 123g FMJ
avg muzzle velocity 2,365 FPS (10 shot)
ballistic coefficient 0.266

this is why i call it a 200 yard gun and why its sighted in at 175 yards (2" low at 200 yards and 1.8" high at 110 yards) pretty flat out to 200 with this set up

10 rounds total fired on this target at 175 yards (took forever but this too was measured out with the tape measure, 525')

this was sight in after a close range zero of 45 yard close/quick zero, measured with a 100' tape (135')

the top right was my 5 shot group, rifle was in a lead sled and used a home made pneumatic device to pull the trigger so that there is zero human error,,, this was impressive as hell and im sure a lot of luck, i haven't even free floated the barrel yet and now im not sure i want to change any thing

im sure there will be some skeptics here as even i would have a hard time believing this one, this was a really cool day and i sight all my rifles this way so that when hunting if there is any error i know it was me and not my rifle

edit below

Range - Velocity - Energy - Path
yards - FPS - FT-LBS - Inches
0 - 2365 - 1527 - -3.00
25 - 2285 - 1426 - -1.16
50 - 2207 - 1330 - 0.25
75 - 2130 - 1239 - 1.22
100 - 2054 - 1153 - 1.71
125 - 1981 - 1071 - 1.69
150 - 1908 - 994 - 1.16
175 - 1837 - 922 - 0.00
200 - 1769 - 854 - -1.84
225 - 1702 - 792 - -4.40
250 - 1638 - 733 - -7.70

its temporary until i buy the wife her DPMS oracle, then im taking the DPMS lower and giving her the light weight one to make her already light weight rifle just that much lighter, this rifle with its 20" heavy barrel is heavy any way
