My only complaint about the Shield is the trigger. But it isn't meant for competition. It is meant for CC. And it is great for that. Very easy to conceal. I recently got my CCDW License. I don't foresee switching to another gun for EDC for a long time.

Plus, and I may be in the minority, I love having a manual safety since it does not have a grip safety.

The trigger reminds me more of a Sigma than a M&P. Take up is longer than my M&P and is at least 2 lbs heavier. But it does have a crisp break and a much better reset than my VTAC. All in all, I am very happy with the gun. I may be interested in the XDS 9mm when it comes out, but the grip on the XDS 45 leaves a lot to be desired IMHO.

I agree re trigger. Ive shot many M&Ps and all have less than preferable triggers. I own several, loving the M&P in all other respects so have solved the trigger issues with Apex kits for each. My Shield has a 4.5lb pull and is very smooth. Took me about 30 minutes to install.

Default I liked it

I shot a shield 9 and now have one on order. It will be a few months to come in I am told. It was very comfortable to hold and was much easier to shoot than I anticipated, given the shorter barrel (i am a newbie with not much experience to date. so my advice is with a grain of salt perhaps). but I still got some nice little groups.
