I got this from my aunt after my uncle past a couple years ago. Look new and doubt it's had over a box shot throught it. Gave $400 for it, didn't figure I got hurt on it but it helped my aunt out. From what I can find out it was only built for 3 years. It very smooth to shoot. My question is this considered in the 1911 family or a knock off?

Trucker,

You did good and also best it stayed in the family in my opinion! I am a little sentimental in that area when it comes to family weapons and heirlooms. The S&W 645 was a good shooter. And a well built pistol. A little on the heavy side but nothing wrong with that. If there is nothing to compare it to one would never know! Man that is a fine Pistol! You enjoy and send us some Range Report Pictures!:)

Helped your Aunt out? So what is the question?

It's more of a Beretta knock off.

It's got different safeties than a 1911, and

a different grip angle. I like the weight, but it's a

tad heavy. IMO it points better than a 1911.

But the trigger guard, DA/SA, and decocker, is very similar to a

92FS. If you had been thinking "I wish my Beretta 92 were a 45ACP",

This may be the gun for you.

I bought mine from a LGS for 400$ OTD in 2011, so I think you did OK,

money-wise.

It's my favorite 45.

It's a very nice shooter, I gave a little more than I would have normally do but wanted to keep it in the family. I'm a dealer hunter, don't make a habit of buying thing for what they are worth. Guess you miss the question of was this a type of 1911. Thank Wolf for your answer, hadn't thought of it in the Beretta angle but now can see what you mean and will agree with you on it. It definitely a kerper.

A bit of trivia on this gun is Don Johnson carried one on Miami Vice.

May be my imagination, but I see JMB's influence all over that pistola. Grip angle resembles a 1911's. Also see some Hi Power elements.

Nice score, ya dun gud.
