Default Why The Beretta M92 is One of My Favorite 9mm Handguns

The power of [Beretta] is a curious thing
Make a one man weep, make another man sing...

The Beretta M9 / 92 is one of my very favorite 9mm handguns. As many may know, the Beretta M92A1, a variant of the same sidearm issued to the US Military: the Beretta M9.

What do I like about it?
  • The weight makes recoil extremely manageable.
  • The capacity.
  • The trigger, yes, I know...but I like it.
  • Double action is a hard pull, SA after that is just fine.
  • Reset point is very nice.

What do I not like about it?
  • The Beretta "up is on, down is off" safety takes some getting used to.
  • The lock up system is different, but workable.
  • It's not quite as easy to take down as my SIG P226, etc.

But all in all, definitely one of my favorites!

Here's my "Close Up!" video of the pistol, followed by a link to the longer review I did on it.

I have an irrational fear of Brazilian made firearms. It is not fair, I know, but there you go.

Default well...

Honestly I did too at first,..but i held the gun,..shot the gun,..and realized it's the EXACT same gun.....My Bud who is a 1911 FREAK and just came home from his 3rd tour of the bad guy lands and exited active duty last summer even likes it(and he has almost as many 1911's as i do!!!) although the "newer" ones don't have any parts in common, about half the parts on pre-1996 92's are ex-changable...Even the Barrel would be if the parts locking it in place were the same...the Orig. PT-92's were built with Beretta Barrels!! My Beretta is a "92SB-F" BTW,..the civ. model of the M9 that was adopted...I carried Mine(Beretta) in a chest rig with my Colt combat commander in a shoulder rig through 5 & a 1/2 Months in Lebanon in 1983,..then to Grenada...in 84 the "community" was moving to .9mm anyway...and by early 85 the M9 was adopted...

I like the locked and uncocked option on the Taurus, plus decocker.

A range is one thing, but duty sidearm being a Taurus? Not for me thank you.

As a ex military armorer I will stick to the Sig 226.

I sure like mine. Not quite as accurate as my Kimber series 1 1911, but it shoot flawlessly and never jambs.... Plus it feels real nice in my hands, and looks sexy as h3ll (Not to mention we all were in awe of it when Mel Gibson whipped it out in Lethal Weapon back in the 80's )

I WAS a huge fan of the Beretta 92. I even carried a 92 FS Inox for a couple years. But then one day I was cruising around an online auction site and found something better, so I sold the 92 the next day to pay for it. I now carry the Beretta 96. But seriously I love the 92/96 also.
