I've got a cheap red dot sight for my Neos that works great. My old eyes appreciate being able to focus far off. But when I'm in direct sunlight, the red dot disappears. Is there a red dot sight that will also let you use the stock sights?

I have not had any problems using my TRS25 in bright light. You might try a lens shade or kill flash on yours. You can improvise a lens shade fairly easily to see if it helps.
