ask him if he meant a model 92/96 and what caliber it's in. (9mm is 92, .40 is 96, often referred to as a beretta 92/6, 92/96, etc. because it's the same gun in a different caliber.
Also, Beretta sold a few "multi-caliber" guns, where you got one lower frame and 2 upper slides/barrels, you could swap them back and forth from 9mm to .40 maybe he meant one of those?
