I saw one on gun broker go for a little over $800 and that was like new but slightly used, so you're in the ballpark. I see them as too hard to find right now.

I found one at a local Gander Mnt for $799. I put $160 down on it and will be picking it up shortly. Is there a big difference between the US and the Italian made 92FS?

Ive got a good relationship with a local seller and i get pretty close to dealer cost on almost all my guns.

It depends on your area. But barring my deal situation what your looking at is pretty much the going rate. You might save +-25-30$ if you burn that much in gas running around from store to store.

I would say go for it if you can afford it.

As for italian vs usa made... doesnt matter other than its harder to find the italy one and as egbert said color of the controls. Your going to pay about the same as its going to take you to replace the black with silver. The italian guns cost more due to the importation fees associated. Your not saving anything by looking for one thats already all silver compaired to diying it
