HK - not a lot of aftermarket support. I Really wanted white outline, adj rear sights. HK - you take what you can get - flat black - and be thankful. . Only one co makes fiber optic sights for HK and they are set .250 or higher to be visible w suppressors. This is not a low profile set-up and you should know that going in.

I can try to get some pictures if you'd like ?
+1 all around the board

I had a USPc .40 and wasn't pleased with it. I traded it for a SA XDm 9mm. I bought the .40 used for around $450 at a gun show. About two and a half years ago I bought a used great condition Variant 1 USP .45 for $600. I am VERY pleased with the gun. It shoots great and feels like an extension of my arm. It's too heavy for me to CC, it does it's duty as one of my HD guns. My only complaint is the price of genuine HK mags. I think I paid around $100 for my spare 12 rounder.

The mags aren't even SS and they charge a fortune. I paid about $56 on sale at Midway - USA. Now $59 but no back order.

SPR's XDM line- SS construction - under $30 but also not available.

Couldn't wait for ban to expire - bought my first 12 rd 45 ACP. Still don't load the 13th round.

Still trying to get finger rest for my 10 rd mags.

A couple of thoughts here....
Yes the HK is often and unfairly treated like the red headed step child with out just cause. But that is mostly because of the cost. People want cheap and do not consider reliability issues, where the HK excels.

So fewer guns out there mean fewer support groups, fewer trick parts, but that aside the gun is stellar out of the box and not in need of much to bring it up to match grade. You can buy and install a new barrel for $250. yourself, trigger must be done by an HK armorer but they are available and out there. and other than that what else do you need, I mean how do you improve on what many consider to be the Ferrai of hand guns?

Sights, true glow's with tritium... I consider Tritiums a must but glass and CC do not go well together, as they can be some what fragile and once the front rod is gone... Yes they do offer replacements not a good thing if you are in need and it is gone...

Silencers, went with the Osprey, flat low profile, fits the shape of the frame, and lets you use your stock sights.... I CC my HK and did not want raised sights to snag on a draw so I spent a little more and am not sorry one bit!

On the huge plus side is when I purchased the extended (threaded) match grade O ring barrel, WOW that thing will now do under 5" groups at 100 yards!

.40. The recoil is equivalent to a 9mm due to its reduced recoil spring.

HK makes great pistols. One of my favorites is the P7M8. I'd love to own one of them. That being said I DO own a SIG P229 and it shoots flawlessly. I also own a SIG 1911 and its just as great as the 229. The 1911 is just a pleasure to shoot, but pricey at the range. Just a couple of pennies from me.
