Picked up a H&K P30LS today. Came with night sights, holster, 5 mags, and 4 mag holders. It's my first HK.

enjoy! HK does not seem to garner the fan fare of other guns, but I have a USP compact and it is a fine, fine weapon! I don't know that I have ever read anything negative about one...the only other brand I can say that about is SIG

I think the only thing negative to say is they cost a lot. The high price limits sales, with people opting for one gun with ammo or even two guns.

I thought the gun would be good for IDPA. It's a long slide model and can be 'cocked n locked'. It's my home defense gun as well. The grip and how you can change the back straps as well as the side pieces is nice. I moved off my Glock 34 for this gun by and large because it fits my hand so much better than the Glock. I'm curious to see how it does next year when IDPA starts again.

My initial opinion is it's a dang fine handgun.

A real polymer pistol.

The P30 is on my list. Handled one the other day and it had to be one of the most comfortable guns I've ever held. And as said above, quality and reliability are right there with Sig.

Both Sig and HK are expensive, no doubt. But I never really understood folks that buy something else to save $300 over a lifetime, especially with all the money they spend on ammo, lights, and all kinds of other accessories. To each his own, but not me.

I like the P30L better than the USP. First, the P30L has a real under rail not some proprietary HK rail. Second, the P30L's grip is way better.

I agree. I love my USP but the P30 feels so much better to me.

LOL! What I meant is HK pistols in general are real polymer pistols. The P30 is an excellent gun. I cannot attach any lights or lasers to my pistols (German law), so the rail is not a desire over here. My Sig P226 has a rail though.

You can't put a light on the gun? Interesting. Why is the gov opposed to flashlights on a gun?

That would mean we are using our guns for shooting people. Please don't ask. My pistols are suppose to be a sidearm for hunting, not shooting people. Of course, we can use our guns for protection, but it is not suppose to be obvious. We also have to protect our rifles from theft. We can protect ourselves against others with weapons. 1. We have to give them a warning. 2. we have to give a warning shot. 3. We can then shoot. Of course, if someone points a firearm at us, then all bets are off. Our firearms must be kept in a safe. The ammo is in a safe within the safe. I have a safe next to my bed. Still, I can be armed in a matter of seconds. Recently I drew my sidearm on two guys who pulled a knife on me at the hunting lease. They were going to take a deer that was run over. I told him that the deer belongs to the revier. A knife was pulled. I pulled my firearm and warned them. The knife was dropped. The look on their face was priceless!!!! They got into their car in a hurry and sped off. I guess they forgot about their license plate. Duh!!
