Tough as nails, large and none to pretty. Google search 'test' or 'torture test' should pull up quite a bit. I have no personal experience with one.

I have one, it's great. If you're lucky, get your hands on the PC9 later on...they use the same magazine. PC9 no longer in production, but could find one used. Back to the P89, shoots everything I put in it.

Solidly built. Reliable. Reasonably accurate. Bulky and kinda funny lookin'.
Nothing you would need to be ashamed of if you bought one.

The P89 is one of the toughest pistols I have owned. I abused that gun for a good 10 years before I sold it to a friend. He still has and uses it to this day. I kind of wish I had never sold it.

Owned the P89 in college. Purchased it because it was the cheapest full-sized pistol in the gun store. Didn’t know squat about it because this was pre-“Everything is on the Internet” days. Not the most accurate thing and the trigger was rough as all get out. Rock solid reliable, would shoot anything I put in it and after awhile I started purposely abusing it. Didn’t clean it, stored it dirty, let it get dusty, and just kept pumping rounds through it. I finally wimped out after about 500 rounds and cleaned it again.
Loved mine. Getting it back this month from the person I gave it to. Can’t wait to go shoot it again.

I have had one for about 15 years. It is large but it is a great gun. Give it at least minimal care and don't seriously abuse it and it will last several lifetimes.

You are probably not as old as me. I was over 40 when they were introduced.
