Honestly, I think Rugers your best bet. Just get one without a laser. There around 300 without one. Or we'll used to be
Taurus or Ruger, the other two are garbage. I teach CCW Classes here in Ohio and see lots of pistols. A few that I have seen at training that are inexpensive are Ruger SR 9 Compact and the Sccy 9mm. The Tauruses that I see go bang. I owned a PT 92 for 15 years and loved it. Just my humble opinion.

What's about going with 9mm? Sccy makes a line of SA 9mm pistols and they can be had for under $300. I haven't heard much bad talk about it.

I don't understand why Taurus is even on that list. Taurus is a major brand with a reputation that is getting stronger every year.

I would have no problems buying a Taurus. I don't have one, mind you, but not because I'm scared of them.

I'd never buy either of those other two.

My Taurus 738 TCP was great and I thought it was a great carry gun. I had one fail and that was my fault because I thought I'd try one had after only 50-60 rounds
