Ruger has a history of excellent firearms. I don't have this one but have heard nothing but good things.

I do have their P94 in .40. I've had it for nearly 18 years. Not one malfunction. It always goes "bang" when I need it to.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but I would not hesitate to purchase the SR40.

I have the SR9C which is basically the same gun and it is awesome. I have heard nothing but good things about the SR40 and SR40C.

I have owned the ruger sr9c and own the ruger sr40c now. I love my 40c great shooter, comfortable, accurate, good looking gun, can make it a full size grip with a 15 rd mag and a grip extension. Reliable as hell, and easy to clean. Good price range, stainless or blued slide. Need I say more?

I've had mine since September of last year. No malfunctions at all. I suggest breaking the gun down when you first get it and cleaning the extra grease off the gun. The only issue and you can look this up on you tube, you have to rack the slide before attempting to load or the round will not feed.

Had my sr40c for over a year. Have loved it every day. Last week started getting light strikes. Always field strip and clean it. Took it to my friendly smith, he said the channel that the firing pin rides in was carboned up causing drag. Also the pin had machining burrs, which he polished. I never took the firing pin assembly apart....but he showed me how and I will certainly do it now. In any case, he's a glock guy and said they have the same issue. But....he is going to order one of these now after firing mine. Hell of a gun!
