Default Sr22

I want to buy a 22 for my wife and I am leaning towards the Ruger SR22. Could you all offer some feedback from your experiences?

I like the Ruger Mark III better - as did my wife. It depends on the purpose, the SR22 is a fun plinking pistol, but not as good for target shooting. Sure, it conceals better than a MKIII or 22/45 but if you are going with 22 for self defense, I'd recommend a revolver. Ruger has those too.

My girlfriend has an SR22 and loves it, I really like it as well. My only complaint is the magazine disconnect.
Just passing through...

We have a couple SR22s and they will eat every .22lr ammo out there with the exception of subsonic ammo . Accurate, reliable and very well constructed .
At around 500-600 rds it really needed to be cleaned after using cheap ammo. Best non target .22lr pistol out there . My sis in law has a walther and it doesnt run flawless, It has had some issues that have been worked out but out of the box the ruger was top notch , no break in required

The SR22 is a good gun. It'll digest bulk ammo like a champ and seems to be reasonably accurate. I took my mother pistol hunting about a year ago, and that's what we picked out.

The down side is that its about the size of a subcompact carry gun. So the short barrel/sight radius can make accuracy difficult in the hands of an inexperienced shooter. I bought Mom a CT rail laser last Christmas to remedy that a bit.

As long as you don't expect it to be a precision target pistol, it's a really solid little gun.

Awesome pistol.. Seemed to be the best of the 22s out there when i was researching. In terms of eating any ammo, and reliability.. My wife loves hers.. Get it.
