Ruger is publicly traded on the NY Stock exchange under symbol RGR-US, and closed at $63+ yesterday. It has been a great stock the last ten months. I owned a couple of hundred shares that I bought at about $30 and sold at $50 a couple of months ago. Should have still kept it and been riding it.

It is highly unlikely enough of it was sold to change control to another board.

My Ruger mags have been great. All 15+ of my MecGar mags have been great (Sig P226, BHP, CZ 75). But I've generally heard that while most shooters love MecGar mags, MG's 1911 mags aren't so hot (that's what I've heard from some I know to be quite knowledgable). Yet my 'Rugers' are great. Interesting. Good to know...further research to come probably.

BTW- For many guns...various popular models from Sig, Browning, CZ, Ruger, Beretta (among others, and especially those models with better service reputations; Sig P226, CZ 75, BHP, Beretta 92/M9)...MecGar actually manufactures the 'factory' mags for those companies. And those branded 'MecGar' and sold for less are usually the same darn thing.

Much the same as the OP I'm going to be looking at an SR1911 around the first of the year. Or at least that's what I hope. It's a work or art. Just had to add my 2 cents on how much I want one.

Ruger has done well copying Colts. Well except their first semi-auto .22 pistol was copied from a Jap Nambu.

Default Sr1911

I have one and LOVE IT! IMO is if the best 1911 model out there. I have run a few thousand rounds through it and never had an issue with it. Seems to shoot almost any .45ACP ammo without an issue.

This may take a couple of months, but some time in early 2014 I should be giving all a range report.

Thanks for all of your input, as usual it is non-biased and valuable.

Anxious to hear if you've gotten close to getting the SR1911 yet? I'm hoping to get one still; maybe around tax return time.
Looking forward to seeing your pictures.
