The trigger on mine has really smoothed out a lot from shooting it. Also I did not like the front sight so I painted it orange.

My wife's is almost 2 years old. Still handles like a 2K match gun. 3.06" barrel, and very nice front & rear sights, plus an aftermarket Houge Tamer Mono-Grip.

I am trying to find a 3" sp101, but no shop around has one. We do have a show this sunday so maybe I'll get lucky there. So for now wittmeba I feel your pain, but hopefully not for long.

psych - hope you find what you want.

If Ruger offered the 3" with inlaid grip panels and Fiber Optic sights I'd probably already have one.

But for now ...

We did "Mention" to Craig(the Ruger rep. We videoed) that folks wanted SP101's and GP100's in different barrel configs and lengths....( off air I think). I think ( and this is just me) that if you can afford it, you can get a barrel customized to your desired tastes.

38 years ago my Dad wanted his Security Six with a custom length( for both comp., & duty wear. Maybe it helps when your BIL is not only a fellow LEO but a GS owner, you get the barrel made and your BIL installs it for you. Result: a 5.25" bull barrel Security Six....
Recently I noticed that outside of the SA's Ruger only puts barrels above 6" on the Redhawk/Super Redhawk...get me a 10" tube with a Bi-Pod.....

If the basic gun is pretty much the same with some interchangeable parts I don't understand why they wouldn't offer it as a standard semi-customized offering.

The grips of the 4" are what I like most. The sights are a "maybe" as I've heard they affect the draw from a holster and clothing when not fitted just right.

Wittmeba, I am looking for the 3" Sp101, plan on ordering a pre drilled small wonder fiber optic front sight from gemini customs to put in place and change the grips but it sounds like we are looking for the same gun.

Fiber optic is great for sports. OK for an occasional draw. If you want to run timed drills with a leather holster, it may frustrate you or get messed up. A ramp sight would be better.
