Default Loose barrel on SR9c when slide is racked?

Please forgive my ignorance but I'm new to Rugers and guns for that matter. If I don't ask I won't learn.
I cleaned my gun for the first time the other day and when I put the barrel and slide back together but still had the slide racked, the barrel is very loose and just doesn't seem right. Is this normal? I didn't notice before cleaning if it was this way. Did I mess up on my cleaning?
Please help.

Thanks!

Welcome to FTF.
You should double check your work just in case but a bit of movement in that position is typical. As long as it locks up well (doesn't move in the closed position) you should be good.

Are you talking about when the slide is locked back?

Not familiar with the SR9 but my Walthers and GLOCKS do that...normal

Welcome! I have an SR9 full size. My barrel moves "Slightly" when the slide is locked back. If your concerned, take it into the GS where you got it and have them check it out for you. No harm in being careful. By comparison, my LC9's barrel Does Not move at all when the slide is locked back.

I agree with the other posters. When the slide is locked back, the barrel is loose like you described.

I thought it was a floating barrel but wanted to be safe. Thanks to all of you. I went back just now and double checked my work and all is as it should be.

I hope to be around these forums more in the future.
