I'm of the mindset that if I want capacity I'll take a 9mm and if I want stopping power I'll take a .45. The .40 is a compromise round and in all the ways I don't like.

That doesn't mean I poo poo the decisions of others to use it, just not a round for me. It might be a good round for you.

Standardization works great until th SHTF.

I scrounging becomes necessary... .40 S&W and 9 MM will be the most "found" cartridges in the US.

IMHO a fella's collection should cover ALL of the "most used"'Cartridges.

.22 LR
.223/5.56 MM
9 MM
.38 SPC/.357 Mag
7.62x39
.30/06
.308 Win
12 G
20 G
.40 S&W
.44 SPC/MAG
.45 ACP

Just need to pick up an M1A somI can cover that .308..and I'm set

Tack

.40 has become my favorite caliber, still keep the higher capacity but get a little more stopping power than the 9mm and it won't devour my wallet when i want to do alot of shooting. And another reason is a lot of departments carry that so might aswell get good with it before i get into le

I own a Glock M 23 and used to reload .40's but I seldom shoot it any more. Don't really know why it's a great gun.

I have a Glock 22 carried it as my CCW pistol for years, just as soon as I can afford to get a Missouri CCP I'll start again.

I have several pistols chambered in .40 (just bought another Sat.) I've always liked them. Some people look at it as a "compromise" between 9mm and .45, I see it as the best of both worlds. To each his own.

I like .40's a lot too. Easy to reload, snappy, but fun to manage. My wife and I both have S&W M&P .40's.
