I have a Standard which is just the original model of the MKIII I enjoy it a lot and if you get a MKIII it is very customizable. Also it is made out of steel and not plastic. Basically you're just going to have to hold them both and choose from there.

You can't go wrong with either. I have the mark iii hunter with the target barrel. The thing is a tack driver. I can hit soda cans at 50 yards with it, and just for laughs one time I shot a clip at a milk jug at 100 yards, and actually hit it twice

From what I have heard the lite is not as accurate as the standard 22/45. I have a 22/45 that I have had the barrel threaded. I like the fact that the controls are the same as a 1911. My father has a mk3 and accuracy wise I really cannot tell the difference. If you go with a 22/45 make sure it has removable grip panels. Whichever way you go you will not be dissappointed.

Do you prefer the feel of steel or polymer ? The 22/45 has the same grip angle as the 1911 n grip panels are exchangeable - the controls are the same as every other Ruger.

What do you want it for - hunting, CC, Tgt, plinking etc.

Is balance important ? Check out the bull barrels in 5.5 n shorter - shoot them. Then try the longer sight radius of the hunter model. Which shoots better for you ?

Whichever one you buy - eliminate most of the BS added to the MK III for safety. The trigger didn't need any help being bad and there are aftermarket parts to help you. Volquartsen makes an excellent accuracy kit but their excellent grips may not fit the 22/45 frame. Something to think about if you want to go down that road.

From ultra simple to space gun - the Ruger can do it all - the choice is up to you. Buckmark is also a viable alternative and if you want a dedicated Tgt piece - SW Model 41.

I love mine but I'm going to say one bad thing...it is without of doubt THE WORST gun to take apart. Such a pain with the 'put mag in, take mag out, squeeze trigger, put mag back in, etc, etc' I need the guide every time...and a punch, paper clip, and mallet.
