My P220 is a LEO veteran, from the Indianapolis Police , and looks a lot like your duty gun. Mine is now dressed up with TruGlo sights and Hogue Walnut grips. Was yours DAO ? I think that's standard for duty guns, but I could be wrong.

Nope. My Sig was just a stock, shelf purchased handgun, which was one of our approved guns at the time. Since then, our department chose the Glock .40 cal (G-22) as our only approved handgun for simplicity of mag swapping and ammo issues.

I carried this P220 from '98 to '11 as duty. Mine was DA first round then SA. Now we're all forced to carry Glock .40s on duty.

I'm reading that more police forces are beginning to switch back to either 9mm or .45 , for their service weapons, largely due to ammo advancements, and the easier "shootability" of both calibers. The 40 cal is competent, but I personally feel it's too lively for what you get.

We are moving again from the Glock .40 to a Sig 9mm. Way too small a round in my opinion. Oh well... as long as I am not paying for it.

I'd love to go back to my P220.
