Default Sig sauer p-229 40 slide finish ??

Bought a SIG P-229 40, with some scratches on it's slide. Since i don't know how to put a finish on stainless steel. I'm thinking of having the slide sand blasted & leaving the slide stainless steel. Would like some advice

I would suggest Cerakote it. Stainless steel is not resistant to rust and to effectively nitride treat it has to done on chromoly or carbon steel. Stainless steel doesn't absorb the salt bath solution so it basically form an external layer. You can get Cerakote in a stainless color

Wonder how much it would cost to cerakote the slide, My gunsmith wants $50 to sand blast the slide

About 75-100. That should include prep and Cerakote.
