I'm considering getting the Navy P226 as a range pistol and am wondering what the personal experiences with this model (P226) are. I'm hoping to get it in .40S&W but can settle for 9mm.

I love mine. Great shooter I could shoot all day and not get tired. If I could only afford all that ammo. Sigh......

I'm absolutely thrilled with mine. They don't come in .40 just so you know. It's an exact replica. So that includes only one caliber choice. Only thing is, the trigger wasn't an srt. So I ordered a srt kit from sig and couldn't be happier. It's my favorite gun so far. (And that's favorite out of multiple 1911's sigs glocks etc. ) go for it!!

From what the Sig website, Cabelas and Wiki say, it comes in (P226 Mk 25 aka P226 Navy) 9mm and in fact it twas the P226 TacOp that came in 9mm, .40S&W and .357SIG. My bad, but I'd still get it in 9mm mostly because of the anti-corrosion coatings on controls and internal components. The only problem I have with the Mk25 is that it starts at 1,142.00 but it DOES carry a 15 round mag which I like, and bullets are cheap. Anyone see a P226 for less than 990.00 USD?

Aye carumba! And yes I know that's not how you spell it lol what was the mag count and limit ie 12 round or 15 round or did you buy an extended mag of 20?

I was also looking at the Sig site and they said the Navy model was discontinued (the same model US NCIS used) but the US Navy SEAL P226 Mk25 is still round and basically the same as the Navy model.
