The customizable frame, much like the P250, is intended for European shooters who are often restricted to how many handguns they can own. I believe in Germany the number is 2. Other countries have similar laws.
So if you have one "gun" that you can change between full-size and carry, or swap calibers easily, it fills an important market niche over there. In the US where people like their .45's in 1911 and 9mm's in Glock it is less of an issue.
