Default Need Input on P938

I'm looking for comments and experiences with a P938.

I've always carried .45 weapons as i like the cartridge and don't mind the weight. However, there were times when i couldn't carry a large(r) framed .45 so i purchased (on a recommendation) a P938. Now i've only put 100 rounds or so through it but my experience to date is that it has an almost frightfully regular tendency to jam after the 2nd or 3rd round out of the magazine.

Ultimately at this point i don't have a lot of confidence in the piece and have gone back to a 9mm Glock.

Depending on who i've talked to this is either a break-in issue, bad ammunition or a defect in the weapon. At this point i'd just like to hear from other P938 owners and get their experiences.

Thank you.

I had issues with the first box of ammo. But, more than 250 flawless rounds since. I have tried to mix the practice ammo, Tula, Federal, Winchester, and 6 rounds of Hornady Critical Defense. Everything after the first box works great. I did clean the gun thoroughly after the first box, a little concerned. I manually cycled the slide 50-100 times before my second trip to the range.

I wish I could provide more feedback. But 9mm ammo is like finding Bigfoot around here.

i appreciate the feedback. I'll take her to the range and give her a little oil and then give it another try. It's a nice piece and not inexpensive so would like to get these issues in the rear view mirror.

Thanks Again.

Mine has only failed to extract one time, and that was in the first magazine and I caused it with a limp wrist. I've run about 300 rounds through it since without a hitch

Im up to 1k rounds on mine. Had one failure to feed on the first range trip but nothing since. If I could afford ammo the count would be alot higher but with current ammo prices and trying to buy a house right now all range tripps have stopped.

When was your gun made? Only the latest serial numbered guns do not come with the problems you are having. You need to send back to Sig for the latest fixes. They have been sent out with bad mags and extractors and some have to have the feed ramp polished. Sig just started getting it right on the P938 in very late 2012.

400 rounds and no issues so far. Mid 2012 production. I did treat the gun with Tetra lube which is SOP for me on all my handguns

I'm up to about 500 rounds at this point, still no failure since my limp wrist.

I have two minor nits with my 938. First, the trigger has a sharp edge which I had to fix (yes a nit) - I literally was getting open sores from shooting it. Second, I always used the Corbon 100gr +P in my short barrel guns as a defensive round. Well, the Sig refused to fire it. 2 rounds out of 7 fired. Went to HST and Gold Dot and had no problems. Needless to say I just shifted what ammo I carry, but I thought that was strange. I had used the Corbon in my Taurus 709, the Kahr CW9 and the XDSC with no problems.

Other than that it has been very reliable.
