Default Is the M11a1 a compact version of the 226

Does the M11a1 use the same grip frame as the 226e2? Do they use the same magazines? Is the M11a1 just a compact version of the 226?

I know NOTHING of Sig Saur except the name and reputation (Excellent ).
There is a Sig Forum that has a discussion of the various models in comparison to the M11A1, here:

Has anyone installed the "e2" grip kit on a M11a1?

M11a1 is a 229, not a 226 and I don't think it shares any common components except the sights.

Now after having owned both I would say that the m11a1 really is a compact version of the 226. The grip frame is shorter and so is the barrel and slide. Pretty sure they share some internal components.
