Talking to a couple of friends with 290RSs, they liked the pistols but complained that the takedown was somewhat difficult. If you're going to carry IWB I'd highly recommend either the S&W Shield or 9c, and the Springfield XDs which by the way is due out shortly in 9mm. You have to decide which pistol feels the best to you and go from there. Good luck with your choice and let us know how it shoots for you.

After 3 months I still love my P290. It shoots great and is super easy to carry. This has been my EDC since I broke it in, in January. I have been using a Harwell appendix holster and the SOE rigid Cobra belt, and the system works well for me. Sweet shooting little gun.

Is the recoil manageable even with the two finger grip?

Yes, it is!
I shot this gun again this weekend and still love it. Of course the extended mag is better, but the short one is okay too.
I carry concealed every day with the short(6 round) in it and the extended mag on my belt. I use an appendix holster that is leather backed kydex and a kydex mag carrier, and a ridged gun belt and I feel this is the perfect carry system for me.

I have a p290rs that I have been carrying for the last 5 months. I use it for my lazy throw it in my pocket carry. I do use a Desantis superfly. Its not a tiny little pocket gun but I find that the extra weight offsets felt recoil. it is a very accurate and reliable gun with a heavy but smooth trigger pull. Great up to about 10 yards but takes some good trigger control to get good hits beyond that. Pistol does come with a laser that I have never used and I hear that it is problematic at best. All in all I love the little gun.

It's very accurate and well made but I hated the trigger pull. I'm not a fan of DAO so maybe that's what did it.
