So have been looking into possibly getting a sig in 9mm but am wondering those that have experience with those platforms the subtle differences. Any input is appreciated.

Are you referring to the 226e2? And the M11a1?

I would say go handle the 228/229 and the 226 to see which fits your hand better?

Keeping in mind that the "e2" grip can be added to either.

Things get a bit confusing when you start comparing P228 and Mk11. Basically they are (or were) the same pistol. Originally the Mk11 designation was just what the Navy called the off the shelf P228 and issued them to security or investigations personnel. The P228/mk11 featured a carbon steel slide that was stamped out of heavy sheet steel, and had muzzle and rear caps welded on. Then the P229 came around with its stainless steel milled slide and was originally made with the .40 S&W round in mind. Once Sig offered it in 9mm they stopped making P228s for civilian sales and just basically replaced the P228 with the P229. The civilian Mk11 or Mk11A1 has the milled stainless steel slide of the P229.

So, basically a P229 or civilian Mk11 is pretty much the same pistol.

P226 just a full size.

I am a fan of the E2 grips because I have medium to small hands. I also like the short reach trigger which I installed on my Enhanced Elite P226.
