Default Winchester Ranger Safe

Anyone own one? If so, can you tell me the positives and negatives?

I'm thinking about purchasing one. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I bought one from Sam's Club for $649.00 2 years ago. The lock mechanism failed so I called a locksmith at Winchester's(Granite Safe Co.) recommendation. They discovered the locking mechanism in the door was installed incorrectly(at the factory). They had to drill the door, remove it from the hinges, and take it to their shop for repair. Total cost, $700.00+. I'm currently trying to get Winchester to reimburse me. No luck so far. They have ignored phone, fax, and e-mail contacts. The paperwork supplied w. the safe advertised a 4-year limited warranty. Obviously not worth the paper it's written on.

Had something similar happen but was fortunate to find a locksmith who knew how drill the lock. Does it a lot for law enforcement. Good luck with your safe.

I did end up getting a Winchester safe. It wasn't the Ranger model and I got it from Tractor Supply. No problems so far, hope it stays that way. Thanks for the feedback.
