I take think my shyster state trumps yours.

Are you near Road Atlanta? I used to spend time in that area when we were racing there. Beautiful country.
Road Atlanta is up around Braselton. (which is where Kim Basinger is from. She actually bought the town several years ago but then went bankrupt.)Thats about 60 miles north of me. The county I live in has two large lakes that draw a lot of traffic out of Atlanta. I live about 3 miles from the upper lake, Lake Oconee. Lake Sinclair is the lower lake and its for the average income people. Lake Oconee is for people with money. I don't live on either.

I was there around the time when Basinger bought Braselton (is there a porn title in there?) and you would see her around at the time. I "met" Tom Cruise there too when he was training for "Days of Thunder" under Paul Newman's tutelage. Cruise was a dick (not to mention a seriously crappy driver). I heard Newman was a really decent guy but never mad his acquantance. We usually stayed in Gainsville or rented a cabin on Lake Lanier. Is there any truth to the rumor that lake Lanier is the actual location of the story behind "Deliverance"?

I was working in the IMSA Camel Lights and International Sedan series (IS was an evolution of the Proformance series). Here is a pic of the driver with some of the cars I had a hand in building and worked on (on preview it only shows the bottom of the pic, but those are some of the ):

I never was much for car racing but I have been to Road Atlanta and Barber near birmingham AL several times to watch the superbike races. A friend of mine has a son that races superbikes and I go with them from time to time. As for the rumor about "Deliverance" I can't say. I know most of it was filmed in North Georgia and you can still buy tee shirts up there that says "Paddle faster. I hear banjo music".
