Pure you can't take it with you. Think about it. You ever seen a hearse with a U-Haul trailer behind it? I'm trying to time it so that the day I die my last $ is gone and my last body part is worn out. So far so good.

Thats a bargain, land here in Central IL is going for $12,000-$14,000 @ acre for tillable and $10-12,000 for non tillable . We want so bad to buy property and build a new house and get out of town but our county ordinance says we must have at least 5 acres to build on, so before we even get started were going to drop some where between $55-$70,000 for land then another $20,000 for a well and $12,000 for a septic . Thats roughly $100,000 before we even get started with construction . I really need to move out of this sheister state

I know there are some rules around here as to how much land you have to have to do certain things but I think most of them just cover mobile homes. you sure don't need 5 acres to build house. I was lucky I guess. I bought the first 30 acres here in the mid 80's and added 16 more acres probably 15 years ago to give me a total of 46 acres. We finally had the house built right in the middle of it 4 years ago. The county is very rural and used to be mostly dairy farms but not so much anymore and we're 80 miles from Atlanta which is just about right.

Neighboring property with a well on it (no power of building permit) is less than 2 acres sold for $300,000 a couple of years ago. It is seriously a sub-par lot and will be very difficult to build on in any case because it is all steeply sloped.

I take think my shyster state trumps yours.

Are you near Road Atlanta? I used to spend time in that area when we were racing there. Beautiful country.

So typical for Komefornia , However I live in a town of 3600 people and thats a high premium in a very small town that basically has a small grocery store with 5 aisles and 2 fuel stations .
I cant wait to get outta here to a friendlier state or get to the country .
