cabinet/safes

I spent about an hour looking at Walmart, Academy, Gander mountain and Amazon.
Looking for least expensive means to lock up firearms from grandkids and invading persons. Most would keep out grandkids but nobody else. Can't spend $500-2000 on safe, but the metal cabinets don't tell you how easy to break in. Somebody point me to least expensive that will do the job.

You could put a deadbolt on a closet door.

You must not drink. Things just come to us when we open that fifth beer. :)

I spent under $500 for mine at SAMs Club. Got some some good (real good) concrete anchors from the carpenter at work and hammerdrilled them into my floor. It is heavy and anchored down. Its a 14 gun safe about 1/2 hour fire rating. I put ammo in there also. Bad guys aren't going to spend a lot of time and effort trying to get in your safe when they break in. They are probably going for the jewelry and easier valuables, and then get out fast.

Try dicks sporting goods also

You don't say if it's handguns or rifles, and how many you have to lock up.

For between $400-500, I would suggest this one if you have a few rifles.

Here's a previous post I did regarding handguns:

I will refer you back to these two threads to get you started. They both are
recent.

If you have kids/teens, I personally have major issues with the cheap stuff you can buy anywhere that gives you quick access. Unfortunately, that's really all that's out there. There's a couple of videos I posted in the Guns and Kids thread to take the time to consider. Educating your kids is ultimately the best safe available in your home.

The Ft. Knox Pistol Safes seem to get the most thumbs up from checking around.
