I've had my eye on an FAL for a while. They're hard to find around my parts. Where might I find one and how much can I expect to pay?

Same info for a SCAR. Where and $$$

Gunbroker and GunsAmerica are your friends!

I was able to find a new FAL G1 SA on GunsAmerica for $850 plus $20 shipping, which came with 2 20 round magazines. That was cheaper by far than any other deal on the same rifle.

I had been shopping for a few weeks, when I found the deal there among many USED rifles. It is schweeeeet!

Are you talking about the gun that takes that weird rifle ammo, the 6mm stuff. And there is a pistol that uses the same ammo?

go over to the www.falfiles.com and seek out "gunplumber"
he used to build FAL's from the parts kits when they were available.
HE is also well versed on the scar 17.

You want a real one, gonna have to pay a bit.
IIRC an Argie build (new) is 1500 or more.
NIB Belgian paras are over 4K.
Not sue how DSA has changed the market.
Some folks want that foreign rig as close as possible to matching.
I actually liked the looks of the STG.
Buddy way back had a Steyr commercial IIRC.
I was a kid then, only shot it a few times.

Hookeye

Is right on track a F N LAR made in Belgium and a National Match Model would easily bring$4000-$5000 today.
The kick offs are much, much, cheaper in price but also normally in quality as well. Here is a picture of one of them.

I bought a SAR 48 (which was imported by Springfield Armory from Brazil) in about 2000. It was a pre-ban 1987 "safe queen" that was LNIB, with the bayonet, blank adapter, two mags, and pistol grip compartment. Matching numbers and it says SAR 48 Match.
I paid 1550 back then. I LOVE it.
