Jim I get this from the statements some folks make. Whenever is see (false) bravado thrown about, I typically begin to doubt sincerity.....

and no I am not going to call people out

Not me!
I got my permit and CC to embrace a lifestyle, and to return to our roots.

To "use it, before we lose it", as it were.

I've never had to mortally defend myself, using any type of weapon,

in fifty+ years, so I doubt it will happen now, by merit of the fact I

happen to be carrying a gun. I would severely regret the mess

killing somebody in my home would make, and the cleanup, afterward.

I have 5 kids with the youngest being 15, they come and go at all hours and have friends. My adult kids recently moved out (Yay) but they have keys and come back all the time and my younger brother lives with us. So I don't have the option of automatically considering any person in my house I don't know a threat. My house is way out in the boonies, my road is rough so cars make quite a bit of noise coming up. I also have three dogs that will alert if they see/smell/sense someone they don't know.

With all of the above, I am not too worried about goblins coming in to cause problems, but if they do, and I am ABSOLUTELY, beyond a doubt, 100% sure they are up to no good I will ask them to lay down on the floor, if they don't then Mr Mossberg 930 will ask them. I might not be all that persuasive, but I think Mr Mossberg is. The goblin(s) I think will end up listening to one or the other of us.

The kids are good at letting their friends know how I expect people to behave in my house.

They will 1st hear the sound of me cocking my 12 gauge shot gun. If that doesn't run them off, it will probably be the last thing they ever hear.

Any gun that I would use for home defense is already loaded +1. Why rack a round into the chamber?
1. It tells the BG where you are.
2. It guarantees you are starting the fight one round short.

That said, unless I have to leave my nice safe bedroom to protect a visiting grandcritter, I'm going to call 911, give them the address and situation, put down the phone and start loudly telling the BG to leave. What happens next is up to the BG.
