You're probably right, I've never tried anything in an ankle holster. Also, I started thinking... Is the distance from the magazine release/catch to the top of the magazine the same on all 1911s or does it change with grip size. That may if it changes, that would also nullify the idea of being able to use the same extra magazines.

Usually a ruger sp101, Smith 637, Bersa .380, and a kel tec p32. One of these guns usually. (the p32 is more of a last resort gun though.)
