You're right on part, but wrong on the other.

This is FACT in New Mexico:
If you shoot someone in self defense, and have an extra weapon, the investigators will take the weapon that you fired. You will keep your extra.

Your weapon will be returned after there are tests and metallurgical samples done; this typically takes 30-45 days. If you shot in self defense and weren't under the influence, the perp is dead, and you did not use excessive force, you will receive your weapon AS SOON as tests, etc. are finished.

There is also an option to have your weapon insured, so that in the case it is lost or damaged (evidence room catches fire). The state will insure your weapon and you are covered.

I would like suggestions for a good belt! I see them going for all prices, some of which are expensive! I'm pretty satisfied with the holsters I have, but the ordinary belt I wear leaves a lot to be desired! I welcome any suggestions! I don't mind spending more if it's worth it, but I don't want to spend where it's not needed! Thank you!

Go to any gun shop that carries police supplies. They normally stock belts that are designed and made for use as gunbelts. You can find them at gun shows, too, and fior less money. You won't find one at JCPenney.

I concur with that pinky statement. I do not like guns that don't fit my hand.
