Just in case it flew by you like a drunken pilot the alcohol +firearms thing was a joke. The turkey shoot thing on the other hand I'm dead serious. I don't know about now days but when I was younger Id go to turkey shoots. At least 25% of the guys there reeked of booze. So I apreciated that the rangemaster (I use that term very loosely) would demand the barrel out the window and down range before he would insert the shell. Lookn back I'm suprised he kept his fingers.

in wisconsin you can carry in a bar as long as you arent drinking.

The whole problem here is that they don't get it at all, they will be the ones who shoot themselves or someone just standing in the wrong place. Out of the two choices here I hope it is the first.

I saw a video of a guy shooting a shotgun and it miss fired and he looks down the barrel without clearing the gun, dang near blew his head off, he did kill his hat. Darwin award candidate for sure, again booze and guns are not a good combination ever.

I hear you level. You know I guess it's just common sense and since a lot of people are missing that in their brain housing group it's understandable why they would shoot themselves in a bar while drinking or while cleaning a loaded gun. I just can't fathom want makes a person say I need to clean my gun but I'm not gonna unload it. My 5 year old gets it.

Back in the 70s I was at a dive bar and witnessed two drunks arguing in the parking lot. One of the guys pulled what looked like a .25 auto out of his pocket and tried to scare the other guy. The other guy said something like, "Okay S.O.B., you wanna play that game?" and went to his car and got out a 30-30 rifle. The guy with the pistol took off running. This kind of thing can happen when people try to mix alcohol and guns.

A gun should never be in a place where you are in contact with people who are drunk! Someone always finds a reason to cause trouble and when confronted with a drunk idiot it is hard to just walk away when being provoked. It's a recipe for danger and should always be avoided! It's never worth the consequences and an ignorant drunk never stops until his buddies drag him away or he pushes you too far. Leave the guns locked up in the car so at least you have a point of retreat.

Years ago I worked at a country bar that thought it would be good for business to have hip hop wednesdays, needless to say to young guys get into it over one stepping on the others shoes. They were escorted out and started up again in the parking lot when one pulls a pistol and shoots the other dead, then just sat down in the parking lot, he claimed he was so drunk he didn't even remember killing him.

Blueturf, grege, bear304 , I hope you aren't speaking out about all ccw in establishments that serve alcohol. I understand the drunk guy situation and I see your point. I do most of my shopping in Lima, Ohio. ( aka little Detroit) and the local paper stated that Lima has the highest crime rate per capita in Ohio. That said, almost every restaurant other than the fast food places chooses to serve alcohol. Ohio recently changed the ccw laws to allow permit holders to carry in these establishments, provided the carrier isn't drinking and has a valid permit. I really didn't like the situation of leaving my heat in the car with the hoodlums hanging out in the parking lots, especially when I would need it most could easily be walking to and from said restaurant. If anyone can't see that point what are they doing on a pro gun forum?

I'm with you I carry myself inside restaurants, and just about everywhere I legally can, my point was that BEING drunk and having a gun just doesn't mix. That's why I NEVER drink while carrying. In the instance I was referring to the young shooter did not have a permit, nor was in legal possession of the gun. Just reinforcing the point that people tend to do stupid sh!t when they're feeling ten feet tall and bullet proof,, ha pun was intended.Lol

This should be common sense, the fact it is not is what scares the crap out of me.

I agree with Bear, I carry everywhere I can legally, remember Common sense is your best friend.
