If i did have my pistol and if it did go bad what do i aim at. If i hit and kill him so dick DA could have me locked up for defending myself. But if i did shoot him in a limb; knee, leg, foot etc, what if i missed or it penetrated and hit someone else.

I think one should be allowed to defend themselves by any means without repercussions. I have a pregnant gf to defend but i also have a child to raise

Damn, well see ever since ive gotten my first firearm shes never felt comfortable about them. Ive shown her how to shoot and she actually did really good. So in a way im glad this happen because over all the yelling and mishap i heard her say softly "i wish you had your gun". Ill never forget that and feel this has changed the rules of my household.

Sig, today you made the right choice. You chose to live to fight another day. Gf, child, etc. As gun owners, we need to be men and women of reason. A firearm is a tool, like a hammer or screwdriver. In good hands it does good work and in bad hands it does evil work. Unless you are FORCED to defend lives with a weapon your best defense is always retreat to safety. You can be proud of the decision you made. sounds to me like you have the basis of sound decision making to be a good father. Congrats!
