Taurus 24/7 or S&W SD9?

Im looking for something for personal and home protection. Im looking at one of these models in a 9mm. Any opinions/advice?

Out of those two, I'd go with the S&W. From what I've read, the SD9VE is extremely reliable, light weight, and just an all around good gun. I have a S&W SW40VE which is a similar gun. I haven't been able to use it much (just got it), but it's been a fantastic gun so far. You may want to upgrade the trigger with an apex trigger kit though. They're about $20, and can improve your trigger quite a bit. The trigger on mine is pretty long and heavy, so I'm going with the apex kit to lighten it up.

Thats what i was leaning toward. What safeties does it have on it? None of the websites ive been on have really said.

Safety? Bwahahahahahaha!!!! :p

No external safety what so ever. They are basically S&W's version of the Glock, only better IMHO. The trigger is more than heavy enough for the gun to be used safely for concealed carry. Just use the safety between your ears. AKA, common sense.

I have the sd40 and love it. It is my primary HD gun. I have a little more thatln 1000 rounds in it and no mis fires. Great gun for the value IMHO.

Of those two I would choose the S&W. However if you really want a thumb safety and a high quality gun in the same price range you might want to take a look at a Ruger SR9.

Thanks for the input. After getting them both in my hand, i like the s&w a ton. But i think im gonna go with the m&p 9mm. Only bc the safety on it...
