It's ok....it needs a bolster or detents for fingers to prevent slippage to really be effective IMO. But then it wouldn't be disguised as a pen.

The kubaton is exactky what I first thought of when these pens came out. Also found it rather wasteful. The knowlede of pressure points is what's a useful tool or weapon. From there anything solid you have or can find will serve your purpose. These things are all gimmicks and mere instruments without the right knowhow or training. I'd just use my hands, fingers, car keys, unfolded knife, etc. Why add the extra unnecessary utensil? Eh, to each their own.

I use a schrade "tactical pen". Because I work in a prison. No gun, no knife, no baton... If you're lucky you got pepper spray, handcuffs, and your fists... I like knowing if a 300lb felon who spends his day lifting weights makes a run at me, that the glass breaker is gonna be cracking his skull like an egg...

If I had the option of carrying my XDm 9mm Compact to Japan or Korea, I would also be laughing at a tactical pen. But neither the XDm, nor the (fill in your preferred blade weapon here) is going to get through TSA at an airport on the way to Japan or Korea. Hell it won't even get through on the way to Topeka!
The tactical pen gives the business traveler an option that he would otherwise lack.

FYI, they do make tactical pens with an end that can etch glass enough to break it.
