Default Storing pistol in a hollowed out book

I was trying to figure out a good way to store my pistol near my bed, without it being out in the open. I got the idea to hollow out a book and place it in there. Not only is it an arm's length away, but if (God forbid) someone broke into my house and I happened to leave my gun home, they wouldn't see it.

I might put a lining inside it, to keep any paper flakes out of the gun, but I think I got it all taken care of when I applied glue all inside the book.

Kind of reminds me of the scene in Men In Black - little girl, in the ghetto, walking around carrying a Quantum Physics book? If you ask me I think she's about to start something ...

Nice work on the storage

Haha, that's what I was thinking, well, as long as it isn't a math nerd breaking in. :-P

Jeez, whenever I break into a house to steal books I go straight for the math texts.

When they told me I could keep walking towards the wall but never get there, I was convinced that Isaac Newton was possessed.

Nice idea! Bad guys don't read.
I would have made the cut out a tad larger and inserted a paper cigar box to fit. would prevent paper dust & pieces floating around the gun IMO.

Yeah, I didn't have any boxes that would fit inside. I might put a piece of fabric in it. I did apply a lot of glue on the inside, so there isn't really any paper dust, but there is still a chance that some pieces could come off.

If I were to do it again, I'd buy a small metal lock box, and a really huge old text book to hollow out.

The idea is sound since who's going to go through every book in a bedroom library or stack on the night stand. Yet close enough to reach easily.
